Both counties administer the state milestone requirement through their own recertification programs, but the triggers differ. Broward requires recertification 25 years from the Certificate of Occupancy. Miami-Dade requires it at 30 years, or 25 for qualifying condominium and cooperative buildings inside its 3-mile coastal zone with a Certificate of Occupancy from 1998 or later. Both recur every 10 years and cover structural and electrical systems.
